21 August 2026 Vienna Songwriting Camp Turns Hotel Rooms Into Studios![]()
Quick Read
• From 1–3 September, Miiro Spittelberg becomes a temporary songwriting hub. From hotel rooms to songwriting studiosFor three days, the Miiro Spittelberg in Vienna's 7th district takes on a role far removed from its usual function as a city hotel. From 1 to 3 September 2026, Off The Record and independent music publisher peermusic are bringing around 18 artists, songwriters and producers together for a songwriting camp. Four guest rooms will temporarily become working studios. Among the announced participants are Eli Preiss, Mathea, Tamara Flores, Laurenz Nikolaus, Verifiziert, Olson, Jonny Mahoro, HNNZY, Kitana, Großkind and several other artists and producers including No.Ri. and prod.bySuki. The idea is less a public music event than a concentrated working environment: songs and collaborations are developed behind closed doors, with the hotel functioning as accommodation, meeting place and temporary production space.A new hotel with a creative identityThe setting is significant. Miiro Spittelberg is the second Vienna property of the London-based Miiro hotel brand and opened in spring 2026, with stays available from April. It is part of InterGlobe Enterprises' European lifestyle-hotel portfolio, which has expanded to six properties in cities including Paris, Barcelona, Gstaad, London and Vienna. The Spittelberg property has 132 rooms and suites. Rather than presenting itself as a conventional grand hotel, Miiro places emphasis on neighbourhood character, design and local culture. Its location behind the MuseumsQuartier and its art-led interiors make it a plausible meeting point for a project connecting music, creative work and hospitality. The concept appears aimed at city travellers interested in design and culture rather than a narrowly defined age group.Poco opens the camp to a wider audienceThe hotel's Poco restaurant and late-night bar becomes the interface between the private camp and the public. The panel on 3 September, from 17:00 to 18:00, brings together perspectives from music publishing, management, collecting society work and artistic practice. The panel features peermusic managing director Götz von Einem, AKM representatives Susanne Lontzen and Siegfried Samer, music manager and publisher Charlotte Goltermann, and singer Mathea. After the discussion, the evening moves into Poco's bar area, with DJs and artists from the camp; HNNZY is announced for the decks from 18:00. Access is limited. The camp itself remains invitation-only, while only 50 places are available for the public-facing programme through selected media and cooperation partners. The WIENER or the VORmagazin have advertised a ticket lottery. A restaurant reservation visible on Poco's website should not be confused with admission to the songwriting panel.Mathea between music and fashionMathea brings both artistic experience and a wider pop-cultural profile to the panel. The Austrian singer won the Amadeus Austrian Music Award for Pop/Rock in 2021, her first Amadeus, and has also worked across the boundaries of music and fashion. Her collaborations with the Italian lingerie and swimwear label Tezenis made her familiar to audiences beyond the music scene. Her role in the camp also goes beyond the public panel: she is among the artists taking part in the three-day songwriting sessions inside the temporary hotel studios. That combination illustrates the central idea of the project: the visible panel is only the final hour of a much larger process taking place away from the public.Images: Poco Bar at Miiro Spittelberg in Vienna, the public-facing venue for the songwriting camp's panel and evening programme. © Fabian Karner (Poco Bar) / © Clemens Purner (Miiro Hotel) |
