Movement, sports, safety are topics in Austria. MAK Museum of Applied Arts Vienna included woom children's bikes known for their safety features in the collection.

Movement and sports activities of kids are currently educational strategy topics in Austria. Several years ago, the idea for the daily 'Turnstunde' (one-hour gym class) in schools went public but wasn't realized until today. Now, the former 'Turnstunde'-concept was refined and named 'Movement Unit' (Bewegungseinheit) as the duration as well as the location (in and outside the school) and the training programme itself were designed more flexible and from a sustainable 'learn for life' approach with the goal that the trained behavior becomes a daily routine for improving the children's fitness and health. The movement and sports activities will be integrated from autumn into the daily life of children including the way to and from school. Perhaps cycling will become one of the activities children will be trained by professionals for safety on two wheels.

Safety is also a theme for the co-founder (2013) of the Austrian company woom and designer of the woom children's bikes Christian Bezdeka who calculated from statistical data geometrical proportions in relation to age and body height for the design of a child-friendly bike frame. The bikes with special sizing system and safety features like the woom steering limiter (prevents handlebars from overturning; helps children to ride straight), wide grippy tyres for asphalt or forest grounds, or color-coordinated brakes reminding children which to use first received already several awards such as German Design Awards, Red Dot Awards or the Bicycling USA Bike Award.

At the beginning of May, the woom bikes were added to the collection of the MAK - Museum of Applied Arts Vienna. It's announced that the bicycles will be on display together with approximately 500 objects in the 'MAK DESIGN LAB' on around 2.000 square meters for showing design with impact on a positive change.
