Fashion.at's best memory of exploring an Italian island: This car made winding mountain roads up to a volcano and through narrow hilly streets a pleasure.

Browsing through the press releases that arrived in the inboxes of Fashion.at this week, the ones about the Lancia Ypsilon cars, strongly associated with urban lifestyle and fashion, brought back memories of exploring an Italian island with such a chic car. The visit to Sicily and the experience of the car's driving qualities later led to the purchase of one of these models, which is still driven by Fashion.at from time to time when public transport or a bicycle is not used.

The exploration of Sicily began at the airport in Catania, where Fashion.at had already organized the rental car from Vienna. The originally rented car was disappointing - although it was small as expected and would have been perfect for the small streets of Taormina, the destination of the trip. But everything else about the two-seater and its handling was disappointing. And then Fashion.at saw the Lancia Ypsilon standing in the parking lot of the car rental in its pearly metallic color, small enough for the narrow streets but with enough space inside, comfortable seats and a spacious trunk. Fashion.at was already used to driving Italian cars and had several different Lancia's in use in the years before. Switching to this car was also the best choice for the man from the rental company. Fashion.at said "Ho bisogno una macchina." (I need a car.) and told him that this - pointing to the ultra-small, box-like two-seater - was not a car as expected. The man from the car rental company agreed and changed the contract to a "real car", to the Lancia Ypsilon.

And the pearly Lancia Ypsilon didn't disappoint in the days that followed, as it drove from Catania to Taormina, the main base, and from there to places all over the island. In the hilly terrain of Taormina with its super-narrow roads, the car showed its maneuverability while parking in the small and steep parking lot of the hotel - a villa built around the 1910s or '20s with 180° panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea and Mount Etna. The latter was one of the destinations that the handsome car mastered without any effort. On the winding mountain roads in the Mars-like terrain of the volcano, the Lancia Ypsilon conquered Fashion.at's driver's heart. Well, to this day it's a pleasure to drive this car - even if Fashion.at prefers to use public transportation or a bicycle in the city; from time to time it's necessary to transport something with a car. And then the Lancia Ypsilon is the first choice.

The press releases included information about special financial offers for the hybrid car, which are published at https://www.lancia.it/offerte-hybrid. According to Lancia, the current model will still be available on the Italian market until the end of production. It will be succeeded by the electric New Lancia Ypsilon, which was presented in Milan on February 14, 2024. (Details of the New Lancia Ypsilon are published on https://www.lancia.com/ypsilon/edizione-limitata-cassina).
