Motorsports and fashion: Levi's pays tribute to the McLaren Racing team with an own collection on occasion of this weekend's British Grand Prix in Silverstone
Recently, the Austrian Formula 1 Grand Prix was held in Spielberg from June 28-30. One of the highlights was the opening ceremony with the Austrian national anthem performed by an orchestra and singers with two Oscar and four Grammy winner Hans Zimmer on guitar (video on Instagram). On the occasion of the next race weekend, July 5-7 in Silverstone, United Kingdom (schedule at https://www.formula1.com/en/racing/2024), one of the teams of the motorsports event received a special tribute from a fashion label.
Levi's provided a brief summary of the McLaren Racing team, founded by Bruce McLaren in 1963, in its press release, noting the team's storied history of significant achievements and innovations in motorsports. Since entering its first Formula 1 race in 1966, McLaren has won 20 Formula 1 World Championships, 184 Formula 1 Grands Prix, the Indianapolis 500 three times and the Le Mans 24 Hours at the first attempt. McLaren Racing currently competes in a number of series including the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, the Extreme E Championship, the F1 Academy and the F1 Sim Racing Championship. Levi's rounds out McLaren Racing's profile by noting the team's commitment to sustainability and diversity, with the goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2040.
As a tribute to McLaren's heritage and commitment to innovation, Levi's has partnered with McLaren Racing to launch the Levi's x McLaren Racing Collection. The collection features apparel inspired by McLaren's vintage era, including a Racing Jacket, Racing Suit, Racing Gloves, Heritage Trucker, Heritage 501 Jeans, Constructors Tee with an '80s-era McLaren race car printed on the front, and a Racing Bandana. Each piece is designed to reflect the spirit and history of McLaren Racing while incorporating Levi's denim craftsmanship and style.
