The train hype continues in Austria. Last year, the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), which is owned by the Republic of Austria, or in other words, the people of the country, unveiled new Nightjets that provide a hotel-like experience on trips to various European destinations. The Nightjet was awarded the Red Cabin Rail Interoir Award 2023 in the category 'Project Collaboration of the Year' (article on https://railway-news.com/first-rail-interiors-awards-results-at-redcabin-rail-summit/). An overnight stay on the Nightjet is not cheap - but compared to the current trend of luxury train travel, it is a bargain! The latest offer that reached Fashion.at is a kind of 'haute voyage' with prices beginning at 6,900 British pounds. The journey starts in Vienna and takes passengers aboard Belmond's 'Venice Simplon-Orient-Express' train to Reims, including some extras such as haute cuisine and off-track events. Belmond is part of LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton). Currently, the location scouts are touring the Austrian capital to select the venue for the dinner on the first day of the Veuve Clicquot Solaire Journey, which will begin in Vienna on July 4. The travelers will spend two days in the city, checking in at the Hotel Imperial. On July 5, they will board the train that will arrive in Reims, the birthplace of champagne, on July 6. Schloss Belvedere or Schönbrunn would be suitable locations for the exclusive dinner event on the first day, Fashion.at was told on the phone yesterday. But the location hasn't been decided yet.
The second gala dinner of the journey will be held on the train on July 5. The journey culminates in Reims, where guests will visit Veuve Clicquot's vineyards and the UNESCO-listed Crayères, followed by a final dinner prepared by renowned chefs. In the press release, Veuve Clicquot looks back at the company's history and its relationship with Austria, which began in the 18th century with deliveries to the imperial court. This earned Veuve Clicquot the prestigious title of 'k. u. k. Hoflieferant' (Imperial and Royal Supplier).
