In Austria and China rooted Eva May will guide as presenter through the opening ceremony of the 15th Chinese International Chorus Festival with performance of the Vienna Boys' Choir (Wiener Sängerknaben) live on CGTN on 5th October

This year, the opening ceremony of the Chinese International Chorus Festival (since 1992, every two years) will premiere as hybrid event with live performances and interplay of physical and digital appearances broadcasted globally by CGTN (China Global Television Network) via various media respectively platforms to an expected audience of 10 million viewers. In Austria, the live broadcast can be viewed via youtube.com/CGTN from 13:30.

Beijing based Eva May is since 2019 presenter at the CGTN travel, culture, lifestyle show 'Travelogue' with documentaries like "What's Buzzing in Beijing?". The TV host was born as Evamaria Mayer to an Austrian father and a Chinese mother and finished her studies at the Webster University in Vienna. On 5th October, Eva May will guide through the ceremony together with a co-moderator in Shanghai and an avatar live from Vienna. Various impressions from Vienna will be on view at the live broadcast such as in reference to the current pandemic the Plague Column (Pestsäule).

The Pestsäule is a memorial of the end of the plague of 1679. In our days, it got a new meaning and stands for the hope to overcome the current pandemic without greater damages. The Wiener Sängerknaben will perform live from Vienna as ambassadors of Austrian culture at the opening ceremony of the Chinese International Chorus Festival on 5th October.
