Two award-winners teamed up for tips around drinking and eating: eHealth startup kiweno x Austrian chef Toni Mörwald

On Monday the 7th December, award-winning chef and author Toni Mörwald invited to an evening about the culture of healthy cuisine together with eHealth startup kiweno at his food boutique 'Kochamt' with enclosed design-kitchen and cooking club at Palais Ferstel in Vienna. The best way to reach Kochamt is from the entry Herrengasse 14 where in these times of Advent a huge Christmas tree welcomes the guests of the stores and gastronomy at the old palace's passage.

On the ground floor, Kochamt is a food, beverages and kitchen tools boutique for enthusiastic cooks. The presentation was held at another floor with design-kitchen where Toni Mörwald and Bianco Gfrei, co-founder and CEO of the tech health company kiweno, talked about the the culture of eating and drinking. One of Toni Mörwald's tips on this evening concerned the amount of ingredients which have to be balanced - if it's eating or the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Food intolerances can reduce the enjoyment; and sometimes this happens because of a lack of knowledge about food incompatibilities such as caused by gluten (in flour for example) or histamines (nuts, strawberries, chocolate...). This was the keyword for Bianca Gfrei of kiweno; the newly founded company received recently the futurezone Award 2015 in the category 'Start-up of the Year' and earlier in May this year, kiweno won at the Austrian Post Startup Challenge for its easy-to-do self-blood tests with online data visualization. The startup is backed by prominent business angels like Rudi Semrad, former CEO of Swatch Group, who joined the talk on this evening. (The image in the first row, right shows Toni Mörwald, Bianca Gfrei and Rudi Semrad.)

In June, the startup launched the first self-test 'Nutriscreen' against food intolerance, and last month in November, the second test against histamine intolerance 'Hista La Vista' was released. They are available online (German-language Europe), in selected pharmacies (Austria) and at John Harris Fitness Studios (Vienna). Next year, the kiweno online shop will be expanded to more countries in Europe. (Image at the second row: Toni Mörwald used the event for a blood test under the assistance of Bianca Gfrei.)

The self-tests include interactive online support concerning therapy and nutrition recommendations for the ones with diagnosed intolerances. For the diagnoses, the kiweno team works under the supervision of Dr. med. Roland Fuschelberger together with an accredited labor. The concept under the motto 'empowering individual healthcare' is to offer price-friendly nutrition support on the base of the food intolerance test for 99.- Euros or the histamine test for 39.- Euros.

After the presentation, Toni Mörwald opened his kitchen (last image on this page) for the 'compatible Chirstmas baking workshop'; recipes can be found online.
