The impact of film on high cuisine

From 15 to 26 May 2013 during Film Festival de Cannes, Electrolux (the label is known for supplying Michelin starred restaurants and its household kitchen appliances) hosted an own pavilion where stars met at 'The Chef's Table'. The relation between the festival and Electrolux could be summarized as 'vice versa'. The guests from the film industry enjoyed creations of high cuisiniers who developed vice versa the menus after the guests' movies. The inspiring relation was documented with photos, texts and videos online.

During the festival in Cannes, Electrolux used online media extensively - from Pinterest with views from jury meetings with Steven Spielberg, Nicole Kidman... to red carpet (fashion) impressions (image of Hungarian model Barbara Palvin in black tuxedo) and delicious cuisine views such as embed into this page, over Instagram photo posts, Facebook and Twitter streams to YouTube videos.

Electrolux began already in early May 2013 to provide insights into the culinary Cannes strategies of its partner cooks such as with the video of Bruno Oger (two Michelin star holder, one time winner of 'Meilleur Cuisinier Francais de l'année' - Best French Cook of the Year) who introduces on Electrolux' YouTube channel (video uploaded two weeks before the Cannes Film Festival started) into his creation of a menu which is inspired by the movie 'The Great Gatsby'. Unfortunately (if French is not your first, second or third language), Bruno Oger's video has no English subtitles - albeit it's a 'cooperative' French with many words which are known from an 'international' vocabulary; but check out the video yourself and test how much you understand! Fortunately, there are also English-language videos such as the one below showing Claude Bosi (Head Chef and owner of the two Michelin starred Hibiscus in London) speaking about his menu inspired by ‘The Piano’; the movie won in 1993 Palm d’Or at Cannes.

(Information on this page fast checked by Fashionoffice on 27 May 2013.)

Video: Claude Bosi was the responsible cook of the menu for the Cinéfondation Jury, headed by Jane Campion. The menu was inspired by the Palm d’Or 1993 winning film 'The Piano' and references several scenes from the movie such as the desert ‘Piano on the Beach’. The desert is made of black and white meringue and breadcrumbs and references the closing scene of the film.

Steven Spelberg was the president of the jury of this year's Film Festival de Cannes. The photos were captured on 20 (image left) and 22 May at the Electrolux Agora Pavilion in Cannes, France.
