Austrian sports fashion brand Eisbär provided insights into the development of a new knit technology

The Austrian knitwear company Eisbär (founded 1956) is one of the official outfitters of the teams of the Austrian Ski Association and known for providing performance sportswear for the country's most prominent athletes and fashionable outdoor pieces for nature enthusiasts. Recently, Fashion.at combined some new Eisbär fashion pieces for the style tip 'Vienna is in energy saving mode'.

Now, the company launched the latest high performance sports collection 'Strive' and provided insights into the development of the head- and neckwear which was realized in cooperation with research institutes. Named are especially Dr. Thomas Stöggl, University Professor at the Department of Sport and Exercise Science of the University of Salzburg, and Dr. Simon Annaheim, specialized in thermoregulation, clothing comfort, body monitoring and Scientific Group Leader at the Empa (Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology) in St. Gallen.

Central to the design is the 3D Active Knit technology and three different materials - certified Merino wool, Skindry Micromodal from cellulose fiber, and SolucellAir™ from cotton. According to the information on the launch page myeisbaer.com/at_en/collection/strive with closer details about the technology, the patent is currently pending (fast checked today).

Eisbär Sportmoden CEO Ronald Mühlböck was the driving force behind the innovation which was realized by the technical outdoor clothing and knitwear specialist Kenneth Kurtzweg together with the team of Eisbär and the researchers in Salzburg and St. Gallen.
