Vienna Insight: Freywille presented 'Midnight' of the 'DADA Dance' jewelry inspired by the art of Sophie Taeuber-Arp

This week, the Austrian enamel jewelry maker Freywille invited to the 'Fest für die Frau', an evening event in honor of the artist Sophie Taeuber-Arp, in one of the company's stores at Lobkowitzplatz 1, opposite the Albertina Museum (where the artist Katharina Grosse is currently pushing the boundaries of a classical museum gallery with the exhibition 'Why Three Tones Do Not Form a Triangle') and the Theatermuseum (where the exhibition 'Walk of Fame', focusing on pioneering women in theater, was opened to the public on the same day - see article). The triangle of three destinations - even if purely coincidental - corresponded to the theme of the evening, where the third line of the 'Hommage à Sophie Taeuber-Arp' collection was presented in the context of an evening cocktail with a red carpet in front of the store and elegantly dressed guests.

Fashion.at spoke with three of Freywille's designers who created the geometric graphics - circles, lines, rectangles - inspired by the abstract art of Sophie Taeuber-Arp, one of the most important Swiss artists of the 20th century. Taeuber-Arp was active in various disciplines, from handicrafts, applied arts (textiles such as tablecloths, tapestries...), architecture, performance, dance to painting. Switzerland pays tribute to this pioneer of abstraction with her portrait on the front of the 50-franc note. The 'Hommage à Sophie Taeuber-Arp' collection was presented by Freywille as the brand's first tribute collection to a woman in 2021, with two 'DADA Dance' lines referring to the time of day (article). The latest line 'DADA Dance Midnight' - a composition of night blues and gold - was launched at the 'Fest für die Frau' this week.

Fashion.at talked to Nora Welle about the design and production process of the enamel jewelry with matching scarves. Recently, a video with insights into the design process with Nora Welle and two colleagues, Lucie Breitenecker-Leopold and Alise Tipse, was published on YouTube.
