Trachten and alpine fashion fair 'fesch' presented Autumn/Winter 2023/24 trends in Salzburg

Trachten (traditional clothing) are an important branch of Austria's fashion industry and characterize the creations of couturiers and designers; if it's the interpretation of the Viennese chic by trachten-couture designer Susanne Bisovsky for the costumes of the Vienna State Ballet dancers at the opening of the Vienna Opera Ball on 16 February or the new summer collection by Lena Hoschek (article), who was inspired by traditional costumes to reflect on the diversity of nature, traditional craftsmanship and natural resources.

The most important meeting place of producers and retailers of trachten is the fair 'fesch' (former 'Trachten Order Tage', article) which takes place twice a year in Salzburg in the center of the alpine region of Austria, Germany and South Tyrol. At the most recent event from 24 to 26 February, the trends of the Autumn/Winter 2023/24 collections were presented by Cornelia Reichsthaler, who is considered a trendsetter in the industry thanks to the success of her Instagram channel for fans of traditional costumes @die_dirndlerin.

The presented trends for women and men reach from elegant festive pieces to urban styles and show how to wear trachten and alpine fashion for various occasions. The diversity of the shown collections is united in the aspect of the high demand on the materials, especially mentioned are the textile technology of weaving methods for example for exclusive jacquard fabrics or knits with structured 3d surfaces.
