11 November 2025 ![]() Kitzbühel on Screen and on the SlopesAustria's world-famous alpine town Kitzbühel is best known for the Hahnenkamm ski races, tennis and golf tournaments — but the region is increasingly expanding its cultural scene. According to Fashion.at's recent report, the upcoming Kitzbühel Film Festival will merge cinema, luxury, and mountain lifestyle in early winter, featuring the Romy Awards — held in Vienna since 1990 and taking place in Kitzbühel for the first time — set to turn the Tyrolean town into a hotspot for stars and creatives.A Family Legacy of Alpine LuxuryKitzbühel's fashion identity has long been shaped by brands born in this region — none more cosmopolitan than Frauenschuh. Founded as a leather tannery in 1950, the company evolved under Kaspar Frauenschuh, who took over the family business in 1974. A master of traditional tanning craft, Kaspar reinterpreted the art of leather and lambskin in an ecological and ethical way. Today, Frauenschuh is led by the third generation: his son Simon manages the brand, while Kaspar remains responsible for the signature leather collections for women and men.The creative team is all in the family: Lauren Frauenschuh, designer and head of the knitwear line, studied international fashion design and worked for prestigious houses before returning to Kitzbühel. Elisabeth Frauenschuh-Brož designs accessories that balance tradition and modernity, while Andrea Frauenschuh, Kaspar's wife, is behind the handcrafted knitted hats and curates fine artisanal labels for the store. The current Instagram campaign, filmed in the mountains around Kitzbühel, features the family themselves — showing the brand's connection between people, place, and product. Knits That Tell a Mountain StoryFashion.at reviewed the new collection and was particularly drawn to two standout pieces: Delilah and Chatel. Both reinterpret the alpine landscape in luxurious jacquard knitwear.• Delilah — crafted from 88% virgin wool and 12% cashmere — features a vibrant pattern that depicts a skier in motion across stylized mountain slopes. Available in Alaska Blue and Poppy, this zip-up sweater in full terry intarsia jacquard stands out with bold colors and soft texture. • Chatel, made of 100% extrafine Merino wool, is a reversible pullover with a mountain panorama motif and ski-trail design. Its smooth outer surface and ribbed interior make it adaptable — from ski resort to city street. Offered in tones such as Midnight, Alaska Blue, Glacier, and Pearl, it reflects Frauenschuh's skill in balancing function, craftsmanship, and contemporary aesthetics. Both pieces embody the idea of sporty elegance — practical for alpine activity, yet equally stylish for urban wear. This versatility turns them into Fashion.at favorites — standout pieces that capture the spirit of what's stylish and functional in Kitzbühel right now.
