Fashion.at exploration of a digital map: Searching for Honey & Bunny X Zuckerlwerkstatt presentation on occasion of Vienna Design Week (28 Sept - 7 Oct 2018)

In around one week, Vienna Design Week will start. Officially, Vienna Design Week begins on 28 September; but at the digital calendar on viennadesignweek.at, the first event will happen already on 26 September in collaboration with the art fair, exhibition platform 'Parallel Vienna' from where the interactive 3-D video 'Vernissage for Beginners' by Line Finderup Jensen as part of the design week's 2018 focus theme 'Virtual & Augmented Reality' will be shown simultaneously on both locations: at the Vienna Design Week headquarters (Apollogasse 19, the city's 7th district) as well as at Parallel Vienna (Lasallestrasse 1, 2nd district).

This year's program is extensive and by browsing through the printed festival guide (English or German versions can be downloaded via the press section of the festival website), abstract ideas and visions of social aspects of design, food, architecture and the future of society are getting grounded by projects happening now and here in Vienna. Some of the projects tend to be more political, others are dedicated rather to enjoyment. For testing the interactive map of Vienna Design Week, Fashion.at selected a more joyful project: 'Honey & Bunny X Zuckerlwerkstatt' from the 'Passionswege' (transl. 'Paths of passion') curated format concerning collaborations between designers and Viennese craft industries.

"The Passionswege are the oldest format of the Festival and enjoy continued popularity because they reflect the innovative power of design, they introduce international talents, they spark off the inspiration to get to know specialist craft industries, and last but not least because they provide us with in-depth views of production processes." says Lilli Hollein, Director of Vienna Design Week.

It's easy to find the location of the candy manufactory 'Zuckerlwerkstatt' at the map by entering the search terms 'Honey & Bunny'. On the left side of the results, the days are listed beginning with 28 September. The next column shows the time and in the case of 28 September, also the icon of a glass symbolizing the 'Cocktail' which happens on that day from 18 - 21 o'clock at the 'Zuckerlwerkstatt' at Herrengasse 6. At the printed guide, the icon is described as follows: "The cocktail symbol marks selective events during the festival. Don't worry if you don't make it to these dates..."

The handmade bonbons (candy) of Vienna and Salzburg-based Zuckerlwerkstatt are already famous. Zuckerlwerkstatt creates confectionary with motifs and of forms inspired by aromas and Austria's candy history. For Vienna Design Week, the candy makers teamed up with the 'Honey & Bunny' food designers Sonja Stummerer and Martin Hablesreiter who will provide through their collaboration insights into nearly forgotten production methods.
