Fashion.at's travel tips for Styria: Swimming and exploring history through art in Altaussee, transforming the fashion business through design in Graz, taking public transport to the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Spielberg,...

Fashion.at looked through the program of events that will take place in the coming months throughout the Austrian state of Styria, also known as the green heart of the country. It's a fine mix of cultural and sporting activities that can be actively participated in, such as building a fashion-related social sculpture with others or taking on the challenge of a three-day bike tour, or more passively attended as a visitor, such as exhibitions or the Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg with special public transport offers.

This year, the Salzkammergut is the European Capital of Culture. Four Styrian municipalities are part of the region: Altaussee, Bad Aussee, Bad Mitterndorf and Grundlsee. Altaussee for example is best known as a spa town on Lake Altaussee. In 2024, health activities in Altaussee can be combined with cultural expeditions such as the exhibition "Hidden in the Rock. The Mountain, the Salt & the Art' of comic art by Simon Schwartz (article).

Another interesting location - especially for design and fashion enthusiasts - is Graz. From May 3 to June 2, Graz Design Month will present new views on a possible future and ways to co-create it, e.g. new ways of designing with a focus on creative repair solutions for fashion items (https://www.designmonat.at/event/re-fashion-is-the-new-fashion/), the application of traditional handicraft methods for upcycling (https://www.designmonat.at/event/slow-fashion/), or the participation in a community and art project to raise awareness of the negative effects of online retailing through the manifestation of fashion waste, exemplified by a social sculpture in the form of a truck built by the participants out of old shoes and textiles (https://www.designmonat.at/en/event/in-search-of-fulfillment/).

A strong focus of the Styria Events Calendar 2024 are sports activities such as the 3-day cycling tour 'Tour de Mur' from May 30 to June 1 (https://www.tour-de-mur.at/) or the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Spielberg at the Red Bull Ring from June 28 to 30. It's recommended to use public transportation. Bookings for shuttle buses from various access points are already available at https://www.redbullring.com/en/events-tickets/formula-1/.
