1 September 2024 The Olympic Games are not over yet! The Paris 2024 Paralympics take place from August 28 to September 8. Some may believe that inclusion should look different and that the tradition of holding Para-athlete competitions separately from the actual Olympic Games is outdated. For example, the Austrian teams at the Olympic and Paralympic Games have been presenting their equipment together since Beijing 2008. It's more than just a fashion show - it's a statement for inclusion in sports (article about this year's joint presentation of the outfits). Austria is happy about every medal of every athlete! And since yesterday Austria has one more. This time it's a bronze medal in the women's javelin, won by 44-year-old Natalija Eder, who has already earned Olympic medals in London 2012 and Rio de Janeiro 2016. Originally from Belarus, Eder moved to Austria and has since become a key figure in the Austrian Paralympic team. Competing in the F12 classification (visually impaired), Eder has demonstrated incredible skill and determination throughout her career. The Austrian Paralympic Team celebrated its first medal in style at the Austria House, with para javelin thrower Natalija Eder at the center of the festivities. After winning the bronze medal, Eder was welcomed by 250 guests from Austria, Germany and other countries with Sachertorte and a lively celebration. The Austrian Olympic Team sent impressions of the event. The evening continued with a meal of fried chicken and potato salad, followed by a lively party with appearances by sports celebrities. Eder looks forward to continuing to compete until the 2028 Paralympics in Los Angeles. Perhaps inclusion will become a reality in the City of Angels.
