Tip for artistic photography and music event on 20 May in Vienna: Exhibition views, lecture, DJ-sets and drinks at the Open House & Party 'Wolfgang Tillmans Extended' at mumok

The booking of the upcoming event on 20 May together with free entry to the exhibitions at mumok in the MuseumsQuartier in Vienna is accessible online with closer details about the programme of the day beginning with the free admission to all current exhibitions such as about Friedrich Kiesler known for the holistic approach to art, theatre design, architecture, the new presentation 'Terminal' by Jesse Stecklow (article), or the show 'Sound is Liquid' by photographer Wolfgang Tillmans who will be present on 20 May for speaking from 19:00 about his approach to observe people, bodies, landscapes, architecture, objects or celestial phenomena. The photographer follows a sort of a grammatic of perception where the single object or person is set in relation to the things around. The exploration of the construction of subjective perception will be started at the lecture with the questions "What do I really see? What do I see, and what do I want to see? What is in the picture?".

Wolfgang Tillmans' photographic work is strongly connected to club culture and the music scene but also to landscape, still life and portrait photography. In 2000, he was the first photographer ever who won the prestigious art award Turner Prize; the jury honored especially "his ability to look at often unregarded aspects of the everyday..." After the exhibition 'Sound is Liquid' (extended to 28 August) at mumok Vienna, the photographer's work will be on view at the retrospective 'Wolfgang Tillmans: To look without fear' from 12 September at the MoMA - Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Tillmans' interest in music culture led him to own musical projects. Last year, the artist's debut album 'Moon in Earthlight' - a sound collage of field recordings, spoken word lyrics, studio jam sessions,... reminiscent of the beginning of experimental electronic music mixed with New Wave and ambient soundscapes, was released. It's announced that the musical part of the evening will begin with Wolfgang Tillmans' album 'Moon in Earthlight'. Later in the evening at 22:00, the music programme will be continued with the DJ-set by electronic musician and artist Thomas Brinkman, followed from 23:00 by the DJ- & Live-Set of Dmitra x Soraya.

More details about the musicians and the programme, booking of the ticket (free entry with reservation) are published at mumok.at/en/events/wolfgang-tillmans-sound-liquid-extended.
