'Indian Summer'

...is the title of the new spring/summer 2012 collection by Ivana Helsinki. The label stands for love stories, vagabonds, and rock music by female drummers.

Designer of the Helsinki (Finland) based art/fashion label is Paola Suhonen. She moved recently from New York to Los Angeles while her sister Pirjo organises the production of the fashion pieces in Helsinki.

Paola Suhonen says about her life and her art/fashion project which she started as 'Ivana Helsinki' in 1998: "A personal art project, which is now a way of life. I could easily spend my life as a gypsy or a vagabond; love stories, road trips, strong living…but it’s okay too, to make cute cotton and woollen dresses for charismatic drummer girls and girl women with beautiful souls."

Paola Suhonen has created for Ivana Helsinki 'Indian Summer' SS2012 a hippy-freedom collection inspired by American nature and culture. The pieces like sunburned blue jeans, hand-knitted dresses and feather illustrations on fabrics such as the one on this page or the 'Dreamcatcher' print will be on show on 9 September 2011 during New York Fashion Week at the Metropolitan Pavilion.
