VIENNA INSIGHT by Karin Sawetz, August 2011

Robot & I... is what you can see on the photo on this page. The image was captured yesterday (30 Aug 2011) at the pre-opening event of the new fashion department store Peek & Cloppenburg in Vienna on the Kärntner Strasse.

David Chipperfield's (huge) six floor architecture houses more than 380 labels. It is following Peek & Cloppenburg's concept of a cosmopolitan style. At this time, it is the largest fashion department store in Vienna.

Interactivity was a theme on this evening; a magician performed iPad tricks on stage - such as drinking cola from the screen or serving milk over the head of the person on the other side of the online connection (the people loved this idea and clapped their hands after the glass was emptied), mirrors with integrated screens were enabled for interactive catwalk-content delivery... and two robots performed wordless their robo-dance - one asked me for a photo.

fig. original: iPad magician serving milk over the screen; the colorful, gourmet-refreshment-cups were delivered by the catering service Do&Co; view from the last floor; insights into the ball dresses department.
