Optimistic views on the future with new designs for furniture, fashion and food seen at the opening day of the design fair Blickfang Vienna (until 23 October)

1st part of the serial about Blickfang Wien 2022 (2nd part, 3rd part)

Today, Fashion.at joined the press walk through the light flooded exhibition halls of the design fair Blickfang Wien on two floors of the MAK - Museum of Applied Arts Vienna. Before the walk started at 11:00, Blickfang founder and CEO Dieter Hofmann and the Project Manager Blickfang Wien Tina Haslinger welcomed the guests with an introduction to this years special shows such as 'Czech Design' with 18 designers from the Czech Republic or 'Kids Design' with focus on children's furniture.

Fashion.at talked with Dieter Hofmann about the new format 'Fashion & more' for the presentation of fashion, accessory labels and gourmet manufacturers scheduled as second annual event in selected Blickfang cities. 'Fashion & more' happened this October for the first time in Stuttgart; Zürich is already planned. Currently there are no detailed plans for Vienna but if so, the event will happen in spring.

Image, left: The first visited booth when entering the great exhibition hall of the MAK was the one by product designer Teresa Egger (on view at the picture above) who spoke about her kid's furniture 'Ludo' which can be used as a table, seat as well as for playing. (The Latin term 'ludus' means 'game'.) By turning the table or seat to the side with the curved edges, the furniture turns into a rocking horse-like toy. Very space-saving. Teresa Egger has started already with the preparations for the production of the award winning hybrid furniture which was developed during her bachelor study at the New Design University in St. Pölten in Lower Austria. At teresaegger.com/project/ludo-hybrid-furniture, it's announced that the Kickstarter campaign will be started soon (fast checked today).
