The past's role for the future

From 10 December 2009 to 20 January 2010, the 'quartier21' presents Italian Haute Couture and prêt-á-porter by Emilio Pucci, Prada, Gai Mattiolo or Krizia from more than 50 years in the exhibition '50 ± anni di moda italiana' at one of Europe's largest cultural areas, the Museumsquartier in Vienna.

The curators from Italy and Austria have selected pieces from prominent designers and set them in contrast to works from five young Italian fashion designers.

"But as different as these designers are, they all have one thing in common: the past plays an important role in their quest for new designs, bringing them full circle with traditional 'alta moda'," states quartier21.

One of the young designers is Karisia Paponi (born 1982). She has studied at the Marangoni Fashion School in Milano and at the Fashion Department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. Karisia Paponi was awarded at several competitions such as at 'Its Eight' (fashion finalist), Mittelmoda Award, Winner of Levi's Award... to name a few.
