What made the Museumsquartier Vienna a popular destination for fashion, design, art and theater in 2024 and what is already on the Fashion.at calendar for the next few weeks?

The MuseumsQuartier is one of the destinations in Vienna where important fashion, design and art events take place every year. Starting with the Vienna Fashion Week, which is held every late summer/early autumn and this year surprised with a more socially and environmentally conscious program (article). Or the Austrian State Prize for Design, which is traditionally celebrated in one of the buildings of the cultural area, accompanied by an exhibition of the winner's and finalists' products; Fashion.at visited the ceremony and the opening of the exhibition in May (article). Theater and dance productions of the Wiener Festwochen and the Impulstanz Festival are annual cultural highlights, such as in 2024 the theater piece 'Lacrima', set in a haute couture studio; Fashion.at reported after the premiere (article). In addition to theater and music, art is prominently represented in museums such as the Leopold Museum (Fashion.at recently attended a sculpture award ceremony; article) or the Kunsthalle Wien, where the work of artist Aleksandra Domanovic is currently on display with a focus on robotics, media, gender and identity (article).

Fashion.at is not only a frequent guest at fashion, design, theater and art events. A good reason to visit the MQ in the next weeks is the annual event series 'Winter at MQ'.

The program for the annual 'Winter at MQ' was released this week. The activities, which combine art, culture and winter fun, begin on November 14 and run through December 23. The series will kick off with a concert by up-and-coming Austrian musician and actor Oskar Haag & Band, who won the prestigious FM4 Award at the Amadeus Awards, the country's most important music awards. He worked with Austrian theater and film star Birgit Minichmayr in the movie 'Mit einem Tiger schlafen'; Minichmayr in the role of Austrian artist Maria Lassnig, Haag as the young Arnuld Rainer. Minichmayr appeared in Haag's music 'Love Me For Tonight' (YouTube). With the decision to launch the series of events with the pop prodigy Oskar Haag, the MQ once again shows it's special style of bringing the new and qualitatively valuable to the cultural stage. It's announced that the MQ's main courtyard will be a hub of activity with concerts, DJ performances, winter-themed snacks and attractions for all ages. The program is published on https://www.mqw.at/en/winter-at-mq.
