Premiere in Vienna's Prater: The winter market at the Riesenrad is extended to the Pratermuseumsplatz for the first time

Yesterday, the first program details of the winter market in front of Vienna's popular landmark Riesenrad (ferris wheel) were announced, with the news that the market will be extended to Pratermuseumsplatz for the first time.

In a phone call Fashion.at was told that the booths in front of the new museum will mainly offer goods for home decoration with a focus on wood and light. The theme fits in with the new wooden construction of the museum, which is expected to open in March next year to shed new light on the Prater amusement park. For next year, there are plans to continue the expansion of the winter market and include also the Prater Museum. (Earlier this year, an article previewing the concept of the new museum was published in Fashion.at.)

In 2023, the winter market with 35 booths at the Riesenradplatz in Vienna will open on 18 November at 11am and run until 7 January 2024, offering 51 days of entertainment, live concerts, culinary delights and Prater attractions. Further details about the live music performances by Austrian bands and musicians such as Günter Mokesch have not yet been released.

The official opening will take place on 18 November at 7 p.m. It has been announced that, depending on the weather, visitors will be able to enjoy rides like the chain carousel, the autodrom, and the Vienna Ferris Wheel. The market's opening hours vary, but it generally operates from noon to 10 p.m. on weekdays and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends and holidays. On 24 December, it closes at 5 p.m., and on 31 December, it's open until 2 a.m. Fashion.at was told that the program for the 31th December will be released soon. Further information is published on https://www.wintermarkt.at/.
