For what did you use the prize money afterwards?
We used it to partly finance the next collection (in other words fabrics ...). As a result of the Pierre Lang Fashion Award Elfenkleid quickly became a byword on the Austrian fashion scene.
Has this good reputation also helped you by generating more invitations to show your collections in public?
Yes, absolutely. The publicity in the period after the Award was excellent and let us gain a foothold in the fashion scene quite quickly. This was followed by various invitations, to trade shows in Paris, for example, and making more contacts.
You don’t just restrict your activities to Vienna, you are active throughout Austria and also abroad.
Our workshop is in Vienna. In Vienna we sell our fashions in “fishers focus” located on the Bauernmarkt in the 1st district, and in “Folgeeins” in Lindengasse, in the 7th district of Vienna. In the meantime we have also exhibited at numerous shows in Vienna, Kitzbühel, Bregenz, Innsbruck, Berlin, and at trade shows in Paris.
Have you any advice for young designers?
Don’t let things get you down; have absolute faith in your collection. You will need lots of patience, staying power, and idealism, and you have to think positively.
