Recently, Willhaben published trends for trachten, the Austrian traditional clothing (article). Now, a few days before the start of school on 4 September in the eastern federal states of Austria (Vienna, Lower Austria, Burgenland) - in the western federal states of Carinthia, Upper Austria, Salzburg, Styria, Tyrol, Vorarlberg, school starts on 11 September - the marketplace provided insights into the most requested brands for school bags, and the average prices for bags, pencil cases, work cases including the latest booming trend.
According to the press release, the average price for new or nearly new school bags on Willhaben is 39 Euros. This is an attractive price compared to spending up to 280 Euros for new bags from well-known brands. The most searched for brands on Willhaben are Ergobag, Lässig, Step by Step and Satch.
There are currently more than 47,000 listings in the school supplies category. A good third of the items are in new or like-new condition. The school supplies category includes the school bags mentioned above. Other products in this category are pencil cases (the willhaben inventory currently counts about 2,000 pieces) and work cases (around 800 items) - each product category for less than an average of 10 euros, or even school cones. The latter are used to be filled with sweets, healthy snacks or toys for first graders' first day in school. With the growing popularity of secondhand items, sustainable school cones are booming on Willhaben.
