Old tradition of fastening with culinary innovations: Inspirations for the nutrition plan for Lent 2022 (2 March - 14 April)

Lent is every year the same in terms of the time period of 40 days beginning with Ash Wednesday (in 2022 on 2nd March) and ending in the Holy Week (14th April). What has changed through the decades is the way people are using the time to detox the body and purify the mind. Originally a religious practice, the fasting period is in many cases a secularized cleaning program for getting the body fit again and finding balance in mind. However the Lent or fasting period is approached - if with praying, meditation, special yoga routines or long walks - it's a healthy tradition that's supported in our days by nutrition plans and products developed by professionals. Lent diet doesn't focus normally on losing weight. It's rather a 40-days training program for breaking bad nutrition habits and encouraging healthy behavior.

Recently, Fashion.at received a tip from Salzburg-based 'Joy Naturals' concerning bitter substances from fermented Alpine herbs for the natural detoxification process with purifying and digestive effects. The formulas can be consumed like non-alcoholic digestifs as part of a balanced diet. The recommended dosage of the 'alpine:KING Intestinum' for the support of gut and skin health is a cup (10ml) 1 to 2 times a day, about 30 minutes before meals.

Joy Naturals founder Alexandra Herlbauer explains in the press release (text translated from German) "Natural bitter substances have long been tried and tested in medicine and naturopathy, especially since the regular intake of the substances can have clearly positive effects on the mental and physical condition. The regular intake of natural bitter substances can prevent gallstones and help against bacterial infestation and nausea. The consumption of natural bitter substances generally increases physical well-being, as they not only harmonize the body's acid-base balance, but also strengthen the immune system in the long term."
