Art, culture, and fashion seen from a global perspective by Nigerian-born British fashion designer Duro Olowu at the exhibition 'Duro Olowu: Seeing Chicago' at MCA Chicago

From 29 February until 10 May, the MCA exhibition 'Duro Olowu: Seeing Chicago' will present paintings, sculptures, photographs... from the museum's collection in new transcultural context ranging over time and geography with objects from institutional and private art collections as well as fashion items by the show's curator, award-winning Nigerian-born British designer Duro Oluwo who is known for incorporating art and culture into fabrics and contemporary fashion. Recently, The New York Times Style Magazine contributed an article about Duro Olowu's fabric designs derived from Persian, Nigerian, Senegalese textiles for the collaboration with furniture, home textiles brand Soane Britain. Olowu's Spring 2020 ready-to-wear - inspired by women from the art world, especially artist, author, art critic Françoise Gilot and her sketches made once in Senegal, India and Venice - received attention by publications like WWD or Vogue.
