Sony introduces into the design of the company's new sustainable packaging composed from bamboo, sugarcane and post-consumer recycled paper

At sony.com/en-dz/electronics/eco/original-blend-material, Sony publishes the introduction into the new sustainable packaging material named 'Original Blended Material' composed from bamboo, sugarcane and post-consumer recycled paper. The material can be recycled without additional sorting. For the presentation, Sony has chosen the WF-1000XM4 wireless headphones (picture on this page). At the mentioned website, Sony shows the example of another sustainable packaging with the robotic dog aibo. Aibo's protective, shock absorbing felt box is made from 50% recycled PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic bottles.

In both cases, the blended material for the headphones and the recycled PET cover for the robotic dog, the making-of is depicted with illustrations and explaining text. At the end of the pages, the designers of the materials provide insights into the ideas behind the development. For Kenichi Hirose, Designer at the Creative Center of the Sony Group Corporation, sustainable packaging is also a chance to make people aware of the environment and sustainable living: "Environmental cycles occur depending on the actions of those who understand that concept."
