International Animation Film Festival 'Tricky Women' exploring topics concerning the physical, psychological, privacy vs public, digital and physical selves will happen in hybrid form in cinema and online from 9 - 13 March in Vienna

The programme of this year's International Animation Film Festival 'Tricky Women' is already online. The festival with the title 'Tricky Realities' was announced with the nature-power-shamanism inspired trailer by French filmmaker Héloïse Ferlay who is currently Artist-in-Residence at Q21/MQ in Vienna. For the first time, the 'Maria Lassnig Golden Film Reel Award', worth 10,000 € will be handed out. The international award is named after Austria's groundbreaking female artist Maria Lassnig who communicated a new 'body awareness' through her paintings and films. A selection of films by Maria Lassnig will be presented during the festival (details).

The main programme are new animated films by artists from around the world. It's structured in chapters from Competition 1 to Competition 5. The physical - nature, the body, sexuality - is the theme at the first chapter 'Competition 1', psychological injuries and the visualization of the non-visible bond between humans is the theme at 'Competition 2'. Other topics are privacy vs public and how our selves adapt to the exterior world (Competition 3), relationships between family members (Competition 4), or the modern world including communication through the digital self (Competition 5). At each of the programm chapters at online.trickywomen.at/events, the online availability and date when the screenings at the cinema (locations) is on view. The tickets can be bought for the online programs (accessible worldwide) and/or for the cinema screenings. In both cases, it's possible to get a festival pass.
