International Olympic Committee's Culture and Heritage team presents apparel and sports equipment collected from athletes of the Olympic Winter Games 2022 Beijing for the Olympic Museum

The collection of the latest sports items by iconic athletes for the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland has started already before the beginning of the Olympic Winter Games 2022 in Beijing. Among the pieces gifted by athletes to the museum are the Ralph Lauren jacket by Team USA's Colby Stevenson who won silver in the freestyle skiing big air discipline or Völkl skis by Norway's big air gold winner Birk Ruud.

The Culture and Heritage team of the International Olympic Committee is focusing on sports legends and on 'firsts' in Olympic history.

"We look for inspiring athletes and objects that tell a story. We are always keen to have items that show the evolution of sport, society and the entire context of the Games. Through these acquisitions, we aim to document history," is Yasmin Meichtry, Associate Director of the Olympic Foundation for Culture and Heritage, cited at olympics.com/ioc/news/inspirational-athletes-and-milestone-moments-that-will-tell-the-story-of-beijing-2022-at-the-olympic-museum where background information about several items and insights into the ongoing collection of sports apparel and equipment are published. One of the athletes who ranks top on the wishlist is Dutch speed skater Ireen Wüst who is the first athlete ever to win individual gold medals at five Olympics, across both summer and winter games.
