Guided exhibition tour tip with free entry in Vienna!
Leopold Museum visitor entries and 'Vienna Modernism' guided tours are for free thanks to the support of internationally active Austrian construction company and art patron PORR

Every first Thursday of the month between 18:00 and 21:00, visitor entries to the Leopold Museum Vienna are free. Today on 6th January 2022, the collaboration between Leopold Museum and art supporter PORR started. PORR is Austria's largest construction company. The headquarters of the internationally active company are in Vienna. At the special monthly PORR NIGHT, visitors are additionally invited to attend the one-hour guided tour through the exhibition 'Vienna 1900. Birth of Modernism'.

Over three floors, the exhibition presents around 1300 exhibits from creative disciplines art, theater, design, or architecture from the turn of the century 1900 in Vienna with reference to scientific and social developments in medicine, philosophy, jurisprudence, or innovations in urban planning which happened at the same time in the city.
PORR (founded 1869) was involved in urban planning of the times of Viennese Modernism such as building projects at the Ringstrasse. The street around the Inner City of Vienna is one of the main topics when it comes to the history of architecture and urban planning during Viennese Modernism. The guided tour will throw a special light on the construction of the 5.3 km long boulevard, which was started to be planned under Emperor Franz Josef in the 1850s. The Ringstrasse counts to Vienna's most important urban development projects of around 1900 and initiated private buildings and furnishing by famous artists. Especially mentioned at the tour preview at leopoldmuseum.org (fast checked today) are three names which stand synonymous for the Viennese style of interior design and architecture of that time: Adolf Loos, Josef Hoffmann and Otto Wagner.
