Sporty 'runway' for traditional Middle-European clothing trachten wearers at the running event 'Trachtenlauf' on the 3 kilometer parcours on 24 September at the 'Kaiser Wiesn' folk festival in Vienna

'I run with you - You run with me' (I renn mit Dir - Du rennst mit mir) is the motto of the pair run event 'Trachtenlauf' with dress code 'Trachten' (traditional Middle-European clothing) on 24 September on occasion of the 'Kaiser Wiesn' October festival which happens at the name-giving 'Kaiserwiese' from 22 September until 9 October 2022 near the Viennese Giant Ferris Wheel in the Prater.

The tradition of the 'Wiesn' (grassland) folk festival at the end of September, early October originates from Munich in Bavaria, Germany. Middle-European dishes like the Weisswurst (white sausage) and beer specialities as well as 'Trachten'-clothing are the ingredients of the popular festival with wooden booths and tents where people meet and dance to live performances of regional music groups. In the years before, the October festival happened under the name 'Wiener Wiesn'. This year, the festival debuts at the same location under the new name 'Kaiser Wiesn'. The programme is focused on live performances of representatives of modern folk music in the festival's large tents like the group Volxrock at the Wiesbauer Zelt (Wiesbauer tent) or the Mountain Crew at Wojnar's Kaiser Zelt. The LGBTIQ-party 'Rosa Kaiser Wiesn' is also this year part of the programme; in 2022, it will happen on 30 September. The 'Almen' (Alps) are run by prominent Austrian gastronomers like the Viennese restaurant 'Zur Alten Kaisermühle' whose chef Manuel Gratzl will create the dishes at the festival's 'Zur Alten Kaisermühle Alm', the Viennese party location 'Lugeck Alm' opens a branch with culinary for the Kaiser Wiesn guests, and the ambassadors of Styrian cuisine, the gastronomers 'Genuss-Specht-Wirte' will run the 'Schladming Dachstein Alm'.

The general programme and structure of this year's festival were published already earlier this year. New is the information about the pair run 'Trachtenlauf' which happens on 24 September from 16:30 over the distance of 3 kilometers with several challenges. Details like the DJ line up before the start for the warm up or the after-run-party were released yesterday. Eligible for the pair run are two persons in trachten outfits in the combinations dirndl-dress + leather-trousers, leather-trousers + leather-trousers, or dirndl-dress + dirndl-dress. The registration for the event is possible at dirndlundlederhosen-lauf.at.
