Ikea and Rado use Vienna Design Week 2023 as a creative platform for collaborations, lectures and workshops with designers
The program for the upcoming Vienna Design Week is online. Several activities have already been launched in the run-up to the design week, which will take place from 22 September to 1 October, including the Rado Moving Materials competition, which was launched in March at the Rado boutique at Kärntner Strasse 18 in Vienna. On the boutique's video wall, six motion designers presented installations of video animations created especially for the location. One of them is by Sarah Kreuz, whose surreal work explores the relativity of time while dreaming, as the motion designer explains on https://www.viennadesignweek.at/news/rado-moving-materials/. The six episodes will be presented at the festival headquarters during Vienna Design Week. The winner of the competition will be announced at the Rado boutique on 26 September. In addition to the cash prize, the winner will receive one of the limited edition of 20 'Rado True Square Thinline × VIENNA DESIGN WEEK' watches, which have been specially created for this year's festival by long-time Vienna Design Week partner Rado.
Ikea has been a partner of Vienna Design Week since last year. The focus 'Democratic Design' will be staged with design classics and new products in six former hotel rooms, each with a different motto, as well as a lecture and two workshops at the festival headquarters. The lecture and one workshop will introduce 'Design Thinking', the third event is a workshop on creativity in the age of AI. The content of the program is interwoven with links, creating a network of events and exhibitions across the city, with the headquarters in the 2nd district of Vienna as the center, reaching out to various locations in the city. Thus, the theme of design thinking of the Ikea presentation at the headquarters will be continued at the presentation of the Viennese company Neuvermoebelt in the 21st district, where furniture with a focus on Ikea items are renewed, redesigned.
