IKÉ UDÉ ___ Beyond Decorum

MAK Gallery (basement) MAK – Austrian Museum of Applied Arts
Stubenring 5, A-1010 Vienna
13 December 2000–4 February 2001

‘Beyond Decorum ’, shown at the MAK Gallery from 13 December 2000 to 4 February 2001, is Iké Udé’s first solo exhibition in Europe. Born in Nigeria and living in New York, Udé is an artist, dandy, fashion designer, and editor of the magazine ‘aRude’, which is published in New York and also operates in the border zones between fashion, art, culture, and life style. Critically exploring both fashion and the media, Iké Udé’s photographs focus on the discrepancy between perception and reality and highlight the question of identity and representation resulting from the artist’s own biography. next>>>
